The payment world has been buzzing for 20 years. Several innovations regarding user journey have been made: online payment on an e-commerce shop, buying with a double-click a trip or tickets for an event, buying and selling on a marketplace, saving one’s debit card to pay in one-click, setting up a direct debit, using e-money, etc. In the field of physical payment, the innovations are more recent: contactless debit cards, Apple, Google or Samsung Pay which brings a little bit of value but are still based on the debit card operating diagram: a consumer with a debit card, a merchant with an EPT, debit card/Visa/Mastercard diagrams and the banking infrastructure to process flows.

Reinvent the customer experience

Therefore, in this field there are still several customer journeys that need to be reinvented. Nowadays the biggest innovation potential and user satisfaction is in the act of paying, physical consumption and point of sales. We address all the ecosystems in which traditional payment methods are not satisfying by recreating a private money with an important added value. The central hub of the solution is a transactional engine. End-users use an NFC object (wristband, card, Metro Pass, ski pass, etc.) as a means of payment within the ecosystem. The merchants use a business application linked or not to their POS software. PayinTech technologies are patented and open.

Our key dates

Our history

In 2010, Bertrand Sylvestre-Boncheval and Jean-Rémi Kouchakji created a payment solution which relies on wristbands and handmade payment terminals to manage payments at HEC’s student bar. The system was then improved to scale up from tens to thousands of consumers. In 2012, they equipped the Hadra Trance Festival, the first 100% cashless festival in Europe, managing cashless payments of 14, 000 festival-goers at the festival’s bars and food stands.

Two fundraisings of 1.1 million of euros in 2015 and of 4.5 million of euros in 2017 allowed the company to invest substantially in R&D and products and to diversify itself on all private payment markets. The main investor is La Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations (equivalent to the French sovereign fund). Nowadays, PayinTech is a worldwide fintech leader in cashless systems. The added value has always been the same: simplify transactional systems while allowing corporate customers to increase their on-site revenues, optimise management costs and to improve their users’ experience. Since 2015, PayinTech equips resorts, amusement parks, stadiums, events, local authorities, life bases, companies and NGOs in 16 countries from Europe, Africa, the Middle-East, Latin America and South-East Asia.

Moreover, PayinTech’s solutions are operated by 9 regional resellers (Brazil, Senegal, Ivory Coast, etc). The technology can be integrated in every kind of IT architecture, chip, terminal, user application and every kind of software via the platform’s APIs. We do not dependent from the telecom network, any specific currency or banking regulation which enables us to work all around the world. By positioning itself only on the payment niche of closed-loop solutions, PayinTech is not a competitor but complementary to Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, banks or telcos.

PayinTech employs 30 people in France (Paris, Strasbourg, Marseille), in Spain (Valencia) and in South-East Asia (Manila). Our R&D investments enabled the PayinTech system to become the leader payment hub in terms of performance, security and regulation. A patent has been filed in 2016, several certifications have been obtained and technical audits confirm the solidity and security of our technologies. In order to be represented in our 5 priority fields and to develop our cashless solutions worldwide, PayinTech now works with indirect sales partners (value-added resellers) and large companies.
